Who I Am

Welcome. My name is Christos Matskas and I am a software developer and keen technologist. I love everything that has to do with coding and my goal is to continually grow my knowledge and expertise by learing daily. I am mainly developing against the .NET stack and I strongly prefer C# though I’m open to other languages as well.

I run a small consultancy firm that develops bespoke applications and websites. In the past 5 years, I have been fortunate enough to get involved in some interesting projects and this has given me the opportunity to develop my technical experience and improve my project management skills. Further to my core development work, I have a number of smaller projects developing applications for iOS, Android and Windows Phone (7 & 8).

My experience includes working for DataExplorers as a senior software engineer developing bespoke software solutions for the Securities Lending industry. I worked for DataExplorers, now part of MarkIT, for 6 years and prior to that, I worked as an application specialist for Labelgraphics for 1 year.

When I don’t do development work, I like to read and watch movies and TV series. I am a secret TV addict so I try to keep my “addiction” under control. On weekends you will find me and my family out and about and when the weather is appropriate for outdoors activities (which seems to be quite frequent in Scotland), we like to visit museums and castles or any other indoor venue that can stimulate and entertain us.

Finally, I love my gadgets and technology in general so I follow with interest sites such as Slashdot, Gizmodo, TheVerge, Nasa to stay up to date with the latest technological developments.
